Snapchat filter app shutting down for millions forever – check your device now
THE silly Snapchat filter that let colleagues on conference calls hilariously change their appearance is shutting down.
The Snap Camera allowed workers using conference calling apps such as Zoom to turn themselves into potatoes, snowmen and other cartoonish characters.
But soon the feature will be no more.
Snap has confirmed it will take the feature off the market on January 25.
“On January 25, 2023, Snap Camera will no longer be available to use or download. You can continue using Lenses on your computer with Snapchat for Web,” Snapchat said.
“To change your camera source from Snap Camera to your default camera, go to the video settings and switch the camera source from 'Snap Camera' to your default camera.”

The feature was introduced in 2018 and designed to liven up Twitch streams.
But Snap Camera truly took off during the pandemic, when offices across the world were learning how to take their day-to-day activities online.
In 2020, social media was rife with folks still getting in the groove of a government mandated working from home lifestyle.
It saw bosses accidentally turning themselves into potatoes on conference calls with no clue how to turn it off.

Snapchat has now redirected users to its lenses offering, which users can use on the web as well as through the app designed for phones.
If you have Snap Camera downloaded on your Windows PC and want to reclaim the storage space, then search for Uninstall Snap Camera in your Start menu.
Then click ‘yes’ and follow the instructions.
For Mac computers, go to Finder > Applications, right click on Snap Camera.app and hit Move to Trash.
