We're talking about voice commands on the Sky Q remote control.

You might already know that you can search for a TV show just by using your voice.

But there are loads of different commands that you can try out.

There are tricks to skip ads or switch between apps.

Here's what you need to know...

How to use Voice Control on Sky Q remote

First, make sure you're using a Sky Q remote that's paired with your Sky box.

And then make sure that your Sky box is connected to the internet.

Hold the Sky remote in front of you, then press and hold the voice button (the one with a microphone symbol).

Speak your Voice Control command while holding the button down, and then release it once you're done talking.

Your Sky Q box will then process what you've said, and hopefully do what you've asked.

Voice Control on Sky Q – commands list

There are loads of great Sky Q commands.

For instance, you can ask to "skip 3 minutes" to pass over most ad breaks on recorded content.

Here's Sky's official list of some of the best Voice Control commands that you can use today...

  • Search for a specific show, actor, movie or sporting event, e.g. "Game of Thrones."
  • Find a movie by using a famous quote from the film.
  • Change channels, e.g. "Go to Sky Atlantic."
  • Play recordings, e.g. "Play Toy Story."
  • Use commands, e.g. "Play" "Pause" "Skip twenty minutes."
  • Launch apps, e.g. "Open Spotify".
  • Change accessibility settings, e.g. "Turn on subtitles."
  • Change from app to app, e.g while in Netflix "YouTube."
  • Start a recording while watching a live TV channel, e.g "record."

It will take a while to get used to, but voice commands are very handy once you've mastered them.

You'll find that it's significantly faster to voice-search for a TV show than manually typing out its name.
