SQUARE Enix, developer behind popular series such as Final Fantasy, has announced that one of its full price games will be going offline.
The decision to take the game offline comes just over six months after its launch on February 28, 2022.
As a live service game, when Babylon’s Fall goes offline in February of next year, there will be no way for fans to play the game they purchased.
With a hefty £60 ($60) price tag, the game is not discounted despite the impending closure.
Square Enix will continue to sell the game, and its in-game currency until the end of today.
Announcing the game’s closure, the official account wrote: “It is with deep regret that we are terminating the game's service on February 28, 2023.

Babylon’s Fall did poorly critically and commercially, receiving a score of 41% on gaming review aggregate website Metacritic.
The game’s player base was so low that at some points there was only one player online.
GLHF reached out to Babylon’s final faller, Dashiell Wood, for his comment on the game’s impending offline date.

This is not the first time that an online-only game has announced the removal of the service, but Babylon’s Fall is one of the quickest to lose support.
Those who have previously purchased the game will be unable to get a refund despite the game’s short lifespan.
