The Last of Us TV show with Pedro Pascal shares its FIRST look in new trailer

THE TV adaptation of The Last of Us is coming to HBO Max in 2023, and the studio has given fans a first look at a few of the scenes.

Pedro Pascal (The Mandalorian) will take on the role of Joel, a surrogate father to Bella Ramsey’s (Game of Thrones) Ellie.

The pair previously starred together in HBO’s hit series, Game of Thrones, and have proved successful when acting together.

Nick Offerman (Parks and Recreations) also joins the cast as Joel’s friend, Bill.

Filming has already finished for the first season which will include ten episodes, with plot points taken directly from the game.

Having lost her parents in a post-apocalyptic world, Ellie teams up with father figure Joel in an effort to survive their harsh environment.

There are just two lines of dialogue in the trailer but we do get a good look at some of the show's environments.

From the footage, Ellie says: “Everyone I’ve ever loved or cared about has died or left me.”

To which Joel replies: “You have no idea what loss is.”

The show is written by Chernobyl’s Craig Mazin, alongside Neil Druckman, who wrote and directed the game.

Pedro Pascal was reportedly scouted by several TV companies to work on projects after the second season of The Mandalorian ended.

He apparently chose the role after watching his nephew play the game, and was particularly impressed by the character of Joel.

The show is said to stay as close to the plot of the game as possible, even down to instructing Ramsey to play 14-year-old Ellie as a lesbian.

There is still no release date, except that it is coming in 2023. However, as filming ended in June this year, it may be sooner rather than later.

Wording in the trailer makes it seem like HBO is planning to release all the episodes in the series on the same day.

With a trailer so short though, we may have to wait a bit longer to find out more.
