NOT MAPPY!

I left a brutal 1-star Google Maps review for a place I DIDN’T go – and everyone is divided

THE manager of a distillery and a disgruntled would-be visitor have been locked in a dispute about a scathing one star review left on Google Maps.

An unidentified customer shared their frustrating experience after an endless struggle to book a tasting session they had won.

After multiple attempts on the phone and online to arrange a slot, they decided to do the one thing that would get their attention - posting a negative review about it online.

Finally, they heard back but things were not plain sailing from there.

In fact, things just got worse.

The distillery asked them to remove the one star review from Google Maps.

"I responded that this had been my experience so far but I hoped to change it when we went," the individual revealed on .

"No response.

"A couple of weeks later, I updated, giving 3-stars, but with a few comments on how they could have improved service (maybe not the best place for this, I realize).

"Everything was set for the tasting when I was told by my wife (who volunteers for the organization who held the raffle) that the head of the organization was contacted by the owner of the distillery.

"He told her (the head of the org) that he wanted to cancel the tasting because I wouldn't remove the review (even though I changed it)."

Given the poor treatment, they're now wondering whether they should revert the review back to a one star.

And many people agree that they should.

"Put the one star review back up," one reader said.

"Cancelling a tasting over an honest review is completely unprofessional."

Another added: "The professional response to a bad review is to offer to make it up to the reviewer and then TO BE BETTER."

A third said they should give zero stars if it were possible.

"They deserve everything that is coming to them," the user chimmed.

But not everyone felt the same way.

One accused them of embarrassing their wife because it's a charity event she volunteers for.

"I get you wanted what you paid for, but leaving a poor review was terrible," the person said.

"As someone who actively volunteers for things, it’s people like you that make it difficult for people like your wife & I to get donations to our causes."
