And in May 2018 the band The 1975 released a an album titled a Brief Inquiry Into Online Relationships, which included the track Give Yourself a Try.

GYAT was also used as an abbreviation for the song in numerous tweets by fans of the band.

Where did GYATT come from?

It's believed the term was not coined on TikTok and came from another platform.

Apparently YouTube and Twitch streamer came up with it first.

And the phrase "gyat damn" was used on Twitter, now X, as early as January 2009, according to KnowYourMeme.

On January 18, 2012 American rapper Nicki Minaj tweeted: "TM is like the Gyat damn secret service yo for real!!!

Mid is a popular slang term that is a shortening of the word mediocre.

Mid is used to refer to anything that a person objectively finds mediocre or not up to a high standard.

If something is mid, it's not necessarily good or particularly bad, it's just average.
