Twitter DOWN – mystery outage takes app offline as Elon Musk deal under threat

Twitter has reportedly experienced an outage this morning.

Most outages are being flagged from large, urban areas like New York City, Houston and Los Angeles.

84% of reports are from users attempting to log into the Twitter website - just 11% of reported failures are attributed to the app.

Outages were reported on the service monitor and it's currently unclear what is causing the problems.

It could be Twitter servers or it could be the devices people are using to access the site

Meanwhile, Elon Musk's acquisition deal is on ice as he haggles with Twitter executives over the number of bots on the platform.

Musk, 50, said the deal "cannot move forward" unless the social media giant can prove that less than 5% of users are bot accounts.

Despite sparring with Twitter's current CEO Parag Agrawal, the Tesla CEO said he is "still committed to the acquisition."

The Twitter board reportedly plans to hold him to the deal.

There is a clause in the that the party that severs the deal will owe the other a one billion dollar termination fee.

Some reports are speculating that Musk is freezing Twitter out in an attempt to get them to lower their price.

notes that since Musk offered $54.20 a share to take Twitter private, the company's stock price has dropped 23%.
