Call of Duty XP: Brits Splyce make history by reaching final but lose 3-1 to Americans Team EnVyUs who bag $800,000
BRITS Splyce made history today by reaching the final of the Call of Duty World League Championships - before being beaten in the final by American hotshots Team EnVyUs.
The UK squad became the first non-US outfit to reach a final of the COD Championships in its history after some incredible performances throughout the tournament.
But they were beaten 3-1 in the final at The Forum in Los Angeles, US, by Team EnVyUs who bagged themselves an eye-watering $800,000 (£600,000).
Jordan “JKAP” Kaplan, Team EnVyUs team captain, said: "Winning this event, in front of this crowd is a dream come true.
"The energy, the tension, and the competition were all amazing. This is a moment that I will remember for the rest of my life."
More than 110,000 gamers watched the action-packed final on Twitch along with a rammed Forum in Inglewood played out on a PS4 version of Black Ops 3.
Splyce took a surprise 1-0 lead by winning the first game 250 to 196 in Hardpoint.
They were pegged-back 6-2 in Search and Destroy before being defeated 13-10 in Uplink then painfully losing 4 to 2 in Capture the Flag.

Meanwhile, Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare multiplayer and COD: Modern Warfare Remastered were revealed at XP.
Infinite Warfare launches on PS4, Xbox One, and PC on November 4, this year.
