This handy iOS feature can help you view flight information easier than ever

Thanks to a new iOS update a few weeks ago, all users have to do to get flight information is enter their airline and flight number into a text message.

For example, if you are getting picked up by a family member at the airport and want to send them updates on your flight from Los Angeles to New York, all you have to do is simply type "American Airlines flight 118" into the iMessage box.

You can also use the airlines' two-letter abbreviation code in a variety of ways as well (i.e. AA 118, or AA118), and they will work all the same.

As soon as you hit send, the text should be underlined, indicating that the feature worked.

Once underlined, you can tap on the text message, which will reveal two options: (1) Preview Flight, (2) Copy Flight Code.

If you or the person on the receiving end of the message click on 'Preview Flight,' you can view all the information regarding the flight such as departure time, arrival time, and time left on the flight.

The handy feature also displays the gate, terminal, and baggage claim numbers, as well as a map that tracks the trip in real-time.

It is important to note that not all flight codes and airlines will show up on this feature.

With that said, some of the two-letter abbreviation codes also do not work; in a test run, JetBlue's two-letter code (B6) did not show up.

However, most other domestic flights and even some international ones (such as those running on British Airways) should be easily accessible through this trick.
