Is Peloton down? Outages explained

POPULAR exercise and meditation app Peloton has been experiencing connection troubles.

According to Downdetector, users were having issues logging on to the Peloton app in June 2023.

On June 8, hundreds of users reported having Peloton issues, according to .

People were having problems at around 10.26am and again at 4.41pm.

Several users stated the app wouldn’t load as they were experiencing issues signing into the website, as well.

Per Downdetector, around 54 percent of users claimed issues surrounding their logins, 25 percent flagged problems with the website, and 21 percent noted issues with the app.

Users have stated in the comments section on Downdetector’s website that “the app won’t load” on their phones and bike.

The last time users experienced major issues with Peloton was November 17, 2021. Before that, the app saw some problems around November 7.

Some users have taken to their Twitter accounts to let Peloton know the issues they are experiencing.

Peloton has not yet released a statement on the issues.

The problems have largely been affecting users in North America.

What is Peloton?

Peloton is an exercise equipment company that also features an interactive website and app which allows users to participate in various workout, meditation, and stretching classes.

Before the Covid-19 pandemic, the company also offered in-person classes at its studio in New York City.

Peloton was founded in 2012 by John Foley, the first bike selling a year later in 2013. Along with Foley are co-founders Graham Stanton, Hisao Kushi, Yony Feng, and Tom Cortese.

Foley thought that fitness could be easier if people could have instructor-led fitness training streamed to their homes.

A Peloton bike is a deluxe home exercise bike fitted with a large HD touchscreen.

It allows users to access a variety of workouts, that includes live weekly classes, on-demand exercises, and the added bonus of motivating instructors.

The Peloton bike monitors real-time metrics allowing consumers to keep track of their heart rate, resistance, and output.

The high-spec contraption has become popular during lockdown periods, as it provides the opportunity to participate in an at-home spin class.

Who are some popular Peloton instructors?

Known for their lively, motivating instructors, Peloton has quickly created fan-favorites and celebrities.

One instructor, Cody Rigsby, has gone on to compete on season 30 of Dancing With the Stars.

According to the Peloton website, Rigsby “brings energy, movement and authenticity to everything he does.”

Another fan-favorite is Jess King, who teaches bike and tread classes. She moved to New York to create a lifestyle stemming in fitness and wellness.
