Is Roblox shutting down?
Roblox is said to have gone down late on Thursday, October 28, 2021.
The Roblox investigation team was said to be aware of the situation which affected millions of players around the world.
A message from the Roblox Status account said: “Looks like #Roblox is currently experiencing issues!
“We’ll update you if we receive any further information. Services impacted: Games & Account Information.”
A tweet from the official Roblox Twitter account later said: "We know you’re having issues using Roblox right now. We’re sorry and working hard to get things back to normal."
It later added: "Still making progress on today’s outage. We’ll continue to keep you updated. Once again, we apologize for the delay."
The massive outage has seen the platform's global count shrink by a reported one million players - with engineers so far unable to identify the issue.
Data published by outage tracker Downdetector shows that the problems first occurred just before midnight UK time on October 28, with a further spike of reported problems at around 8am on October 29.
As of around 9am on October 31, there were 801 reports of outage in the previous 24 hours.
According to Twitter the fault has been fixed and Roblox is back online.
Founder and CEO, David Baszucki, apologised for the outage and said: "We are grateful for the patience and support of our players, developers, and partners during this time."
In 2021 alone, Roblox shut down or experienced issues on nine different occasions.
Despite the rumours, Roblox has since updated fans on the outage in a blog with Baszucki stating the outage was caused by a "combination of several factors".
He elaborated in the : "A core system in our infrastructure became overwhelmed, prompted by a subtle bug in our backend service communications while under heavy load.
"This was not due to any peak in external traffic or any particular experience.
"Rather the failure was caused by the growth in the number of servers in our datacenters.

"The result was that most services at Roblox were unable to effectively communicate and deploy."
Baszucki promised the company would be more transparent in the future.
