How to archive WhatsApp chats

WHATSAPP can easily become swamped with various chats you've had over the years.

And chances are there are some you don't want to delete but don't need in sight either.

Fortunately there's a way to tidy up your WhatsApp chat list without deleting anything.

And it's all thanks to a button that lets you archive conversations.

What happens if you archive a chat on WhatsApp?

When you archive a chat it's essential put away out of sight - but it's not deleted.

It's still possible to resume the conversation with that person at any time and you can view previous messages too.

Think of it like a folder where can tidy your list up.

Once a chat is archived you won't receive a notification of any new messages - though a number will appear next to the archive link.

It's also possible to reverse archiving at anytime too.

How to archive a WhatsApp chat

To archive a chat follow these instructions:

• Go to the Chats tab and then tap and hold a chat you wish to archive.
• Tap the Archive option.

You can also archive all chats.

Just go to Settings, and then choose Chats > Chat History > Archive All Chats.

How to unarchive a WhatsApp chat

To unarchive a chat, follow these instructions:

• Scroll to the top of the main Chats page
• Tap the Archived button.
• Tap and hold on the chat you wish to unarchive.
• Tap on Unarchive

How do you know if someone archived you on WhatsApp?

There's no real way to know for certain if someone has archived your conversation on WhatsApp.

If someone is failing to respond to you and the messages are going through properly, archiving is just one possible explanation.

If the messages aren't going through, it's possible you've been blocked.
