Facebook launches live audio chat rooms and VOICE-NOTES for your News Feed – how to use them
YOUR Facebook News Feed will soon feature podcasts and audio clips.
The social media platform is planning to launch a range of audio features in the coming months.
Facebook users will be given new tools to create their own audio content.
One of the features is called Soundbites which is described as "short-form, creative audio clips for capturing anecdotes, jokes, moments of inspiration, poems, and many other things we haven’t yet imagined."
The feature will be rolling out to a “small number of creators” first before becoming widely avaliable in the next few months.
Facebook will also be putting an emphasis on listening to podcasts within the app.
It will suggest podcasts to you and let you share them with your Facebook friends.
An audio-only version of Rooms is also heading our way.
It's called Live Audio Rooms and will let you drop into live audio discussion sessions.
Listeners will be able to donate to the Audio Rooms creators.
Facebook will be providing creators music and effects to make their audio high quality.
It's also working on allowing users to send sound effects to each other.
All this new audio content will help Facebook compete with the ever popular Clubhouse app which is audio based and requires an invitation to join.
What info does Facebook hold on you?
All the data on your profile - name, age, marital status, where you went to work, and so on.
Your activity on the site - which posts you like, pages followed, photos shared.
Its tracker cookies (which most websites use) can even follow you around the internet, so Facebook can also get an idea of the types of websites you like to visit – to serve you more relevant advertisements.
