SONY is finally letting you expand the storage on your PS5.
It means you’ll be able to install more games before running out of space.

That’s no bad thing: Call of Duty takes up north of 200GB, for a start.
And your 825GB PlayStation 5 only has 667GB of usable storage.
It’s been a major problem for gamers since the PS5 launched to wild demand last November.
But Sony is now letting you boost this capacity with external USB storage.
It means you can connect external USB drives to the PS5.
And then you can move installed games from your PS5 onto a USB drive.
The bad news is that you can’t actually play games from the USB drive.
That’s because the drive you’ll be using likely won’t be fast enough to support the ultra-fast load times the PS5 promises.
Instead, you’ll simply copy your games back over to the PS5 when you’re ready to play.
The idea is that it’s faster to copy games across from external storage than to delete and redownload them over the internet.
“It’s a great way to extend the storage capabilities of your PS5 console,” said Sony.
“And you can seamlessly copy your PS5 games back to the console’s internal storage when you’re ready to play.
“It is faster to reinstall PS5 games from USB extended storage than to re-download them or copy them from a disc.”
The other bad news is that you can’t directly download games to the USB drive either.
You’ll need to download them to your PS5 first, and then move them across.
