Did Google predict arrival of Pokemon Go in an April Fool’s joke TWO YEARS AGO?

The world has gone Pokemon mad recently, with vast numbers of people happily taking to the streets to search for the cute beasties in their neighbourhood.

But whilst the augmented reality game Pokemon Go surprised many tech fans when it was announced last year, it appears some people in Google might just have known something the rest of us didn't.

The tech giant appears to have prophesied the release of the must-have game in a video released more than two years ago on April Fool's Day.

In a slightly cringey vid, Google claimed it was looking to employ a "Pokemon Master". It also released a Google Maps games which asked players to search for 150 Pokemon, with the false promise of a job to anyone who did so.

Yet this is more than just a coincidence, because Pokemon was partly created by a firm called Niantic Labs, which used to be part of Google.

The tech firm also invested heavily in the creation of the game, which tracks players as they move around the real world and allows them to search out and capture Pokemon.
