GOOGLE OUTAGE LEAVES USERS IN THE DARK
Some Google users were left literally in the dark after an outage of the company's services this afternoon.
A viral tweet by Joe Brown, editorial director for media company Hearst Autos, read: "I’m sitting here in the dark in my toddler’s room because the light is controlled by Home.
"Rethinking... a lot right now."
One user replied: "Dude... Everything in your home that starts with 'smart' is a ticking time-bomb.
"Back to the roots, simple, non-smart, replaceable and proven appliances help to keep your sanity."
REPORTS DROP OFF
Reports of problems with Google's services by users have dropped off dramatically since today's global outage.
Data from showed that at the peak of the problem at around noon, more than 36,000 people reported problems inside a 15-minute window.

Google has said all problems with Gmail are now resolved and that issues with other apps have been solved for the "vast majority" of users.

And others joked that they could take the day easy after being unable to access their work emails.
But members of the public will be returning to work this lunch time after problems with Gmail should now be resolved, Google has said.
ISSUES WITH GMAIL 'ALL RESOLVED'
All problems with Gmail should now be resolved, Google has said.
A statement on its status dashboard read: "The problem with Gmail should be resolved.
"We apologise for the inconvenience and thank you for your patience and continued support.
"Please rest assured that system reliability is a top priority at Google and we are making continuous improvements to make our systems better."
The company had earlier said most services should be restored for the "vast majority" of users.
ISSUES 'RESOLVED FOR VAST MAJORITY'
The issues with Google's services have now been resolved for most users, the company has said.
A statement on the Gmail, Calendar, Drive and other sections of Google's service dashboard said problems "should be resolved for the vast majority of affected users."
"We will continue to work towards restoring service for the remaining affected users, but no further updates will be provided on the Google Workspace Status Dashboard," it read.
"Please rest assured that system reliability is a top priority at Google and we are making continuous improvements to make our systems better."
SERVICES 'RESTORED'
Google services appear to have reportedly returned to full usage following the outage.
Services appear to have been restored as of around 12.40pm, around an hour after users first began reporting issues.
The reports have not been confirmed by Google.
US ISSUES APPEAR CONCENTRATED ON EAST COAST
Problems with Google's services in the US appear to be concentrated on the country's east coast.

Google has said it expects the problems with its services to be resolved in the "near future".
A statement released at 12.31pm UK time read: “Service has already been restored for some users, and we expect a resolution for all users in the near future.
"Please note this time frame is an estimate and may change.“
GOOGLE 'AWARE OF PROBLEM'
Google has said in a statement it is "aware of a problem" with its services.
"We're aware of a problem with Gmail affecting a majority of users," the statement said.
"The affected users are unable to access Gmail."
Users have also reported problems with a range of other Google-run apps.

Google's search engine reportedly remains unaffected for global users despite issues with other services.

The disruption comes just days after hackers launched an attack on the US Treasury and US Department of Commerce.
The attack led to a meeting of the National Security Council over the weekend, reports.
The attack is still being investigated by the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency and the FBI.
