Is TikTok down? How to check if the app is working

TIKTOK has gone down sending thousands of users into a state of meltdown.

According to online outage trackers, the popular social media app keeps crashing for various reasons as the company receives thousands of complaints.

Is TikTok down?

Reports of Tiktok being down Thursday, March 9 at around 9:40 a.m. UK time (4:40 a.m. EST).

While thousands of complaints are being received, 53% of users are reporting problems with the app itself, 32% with their feed and 15% with their server connection.

London and Bristol seem to be two areas of the UK heavily affected by the outage.

The Sun has reached out to TikTok for comment.

TikTok has yet to report what seems to be causing the issues.

One user wrote: “Tiktok appears to be broken, couldn’t play video on repeat, I can still scroll, however my loo break was alot quicker than normal… So every cloud and all that.”

Another said: “Is anyone elses tiktok down? Mine wont play any videos!”

Why does TikTok keep crashing?

It’s not immediately clear why TikTok keeps crashing.

The issues seem to be affecting different users in a variety of ways.

The Sun has reached out to TikTok for comment.

What is TikTok?

TikTok, one of the world’s most downloaded phone app, first launched in the United States in 2018.

The social media app allows, which users to create and share video clips with music and camera effects, was founded by the entrepreneur Zhang Yiming.

It is owned by Beijing-based ByteDance.

The Chinese version of the app, called Douyin, was created in 2016.

When was TikTok last down for some customers?

The app suffered an hour-long outage in November 2022.
