Disney+ review – this £5.99 magical Netflix rival is the best-value streaming app out there

DISNEY+ is out, and is already a smash-hit with more than 50million subscribers.

I've spent two weeks using it, and I'll gladly call it the best value streaming service out there. Look out, Netflix.

It's cheaper than Netflix, and has vastly more content than the similarly priced Apple TV+.

You'll also be able to use it on Android and Apple gadgets, including the iPhone and iPad.

And Apple TV+ set-top boxes will also showcase the Disney+ app.

However, if you sign up for Disney+ before the launch date then £10 is shaved off the annual price.

Disney+ review verdict – should I buy it?

It should come as no surprise that Disney+ is absolutely magical.

The selection of content is so vast, familiar and entertaining that it's hard to imagine ever running out of things to watch.

And even if I did, that's no problem – Disney+ is chock full of stuff you adore re-watching over and over too.

I've fallen in love with Jeff Goldblum's incredibly documentary series on...stuff. Just stuff: trainers, swimming pools, coffee.

It's a silky smooth distraction from a troubled world.

Disney also offers up plenty of in-house documentaries, detailing the creation of Disneyland and the lives of the people who work at the company.

And as a geek, I adore re-watching Marvel and Star Wars classics.

Needless to say, the roster will grow and become even better over time.

The app itself is also slick and easy to navigate.

Profiles are simple to set up, franchise blocks at the top make it fast to find the content you want, and Disney's own curated topics offer plenty of inspiration for your next viewing.

But the biggest victory is the price point.

At £5.99, this is vastly better value than almost anything else out there.

An equivalent 4K Netflix plan costs around double that – and I'm not entirely convinced the content justifies that price gap.

Disney has knocked it out of the park. This is fun for all the family, and you should sign up as soon as you get the chance.

In other news, Disney+ will feature more than 600 episodes of The Simpsons.

Netflix was forced to remove nine movies after "government objections".

And Netflix is finally giving you the option to stop TV show or movie trailers from automatically playing.
