Ebay goes DOWN – site ‘stops working’ for hundreds of users in mystery outage
EBAY stopped working on Wednesday morning for hundreds of users around the world in a mystery outage.
Online outage trackers logged complaints about the issue for almost two hours starting around 7am BST (2am ET).
EBay down – what happened
According to online outage tracker Down Detector, more than 300 users worldwide experienced issues on Wednesday.
Problems appear to hit users hardest in the UK, US, Australia and parts of Europe.
Reports began at 7am BST (2am ET) and subsided by 9am (4am).
Until we hear from eBay directly, it's impossible to say what caused the outage.
During the site's downtime, frustrated users took to Twitter to complain about the outage.
One wrote: "The website is down, looks like no formatting is being applied".
Another said: "Aaaaaaand eBay is down."
It appears only a small subset of users were affected by the site's issues.
The Sun tried to access the website and app at roughly 8:30am BST (3:30am ET) from London and both were working as normal.
EBay not working – is there an official response?
In a statement, eBay said the brief outage was caused by technical difficulties.
It confirmed the site was back up and running as usual.
“eBay experienced technical difficulties for a short period today, where users may have temporarily had trouble accessing the site, the statement read.
"The issue is now fully resolved. Apologies for any inconvenience.”
