Call of Duty Modern Warfare players furious as new game mysteriously crashing on Xbox
XBOX gamers who picked up the new Call of Duty over the weekend have been hit by frequent crashes.
Game-maker Infinity Ward says it's identified a problem that causes the blockbuster shooter to shut down for some Xbox One X owners.
The California firm is working on a fix, which renders the game unplayable, according to furious gamers on Twitter.
Infinity Ward did not provide a timeline as to when the issue will be resolved.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare launched to much fanfare last Friday, October 25.
Keen gamers across the UK queued up at shops to secure their copy at midnight on Thursday.
Like previous Modern Warfare titles, the first person shooter sees you fighting through the Middle East in a bid to stop a global terror plot.
It's available on PC, PS4 and Xbox One, and it's the latter where players are experiencing problems.
On Twitter, one incensed gamer wrote: "#ModernWarfare is shutting off people’s Xbox One X. I know games crash but shutting it off completely, can’t do the console good surely?"
Another said: "Modern Warfare hard crashing Xbox One X due to interaction with Xbox live party chat and turning the console off. Any information on a fix?"

Call of Duty is expected to be one of the biggest games of the year, pulling in tens of thousands of players from across the globe.
Activision says the story is not about one side being good or evil, with characters instead wallowing in a moral grey area.
Part of the campaign focuses on a brutal civil war in a fictitious Middle Eastern country named Urzikstan.
Terrorists have stolen a load of nerve gas, and it's your job to figure out who's responsible and stop them using it on innocent people.
Players control Metropolitan Police Sergeant Kyle Garrick for the first half of the campaign.
He's described as being a former British Army Officer, and is portrayed by Elliot Knight – who played the title role in the Sinbad TV series.
Your job is to uncover a terrorist cell in London that's somehow involved in the nerve gas plot.
For the rest of the campaign, you follow the stories of two characters whose paths cross during the civil war in Urzikstan.
