Man who lost his passport 2 years ago stunned when underage lad confesses he’s been using it to ‘get into clubs and BROTHELS’

Sam Cole confessed to having used Joe Hunter's ID for the last two years before he turned 18

WHEN he lost his passport in a bar in Halifax two years ago, electrician Joe Hunter never expected it to show up again.

So he was stunned when he received a message yesterday from a teen who confessed to having used it as his ID to get into clubs, pubs and, Joe claims, even brothels.

Having turned 18 on Sunday, Sam Cole, from Halifax, reached out to 21-year-old Joe and came clean about using his ID for more than a year.

He messaged him on Instagram saying: “This is gonna sound rather weird and I hope you take it the right way but for the last year and two months I’ve been using your passport as a means of ID because I wasn’t 18.

“Don’t ask me how said passport ended up in my possession because it just got passed down and down until it found me.

“However I’ve now turned 18 so your passport won’t be of use to me anymore and I’m more than happy to return it to you if necessary unless you allow me to pass it onto the next Joe Hunter in line.

“I’d also like to say a massive thank you as without you I wouldn’t have been able to do half the s*** I’ve done over the past year and I am truly grateful.”

He then attached a photo of the passport – which he apologised for being a “bit f***ed now” – and signed off by describing Joe as a “living legend”.

'FAIR PLAY'

Joe, who lives in Baildon in West Yorkshire, lost his ID just a few weeks before he was set to fly out on a lad’s trip to Lanzarote, forcing him to pay for an emergency passport.

But despite the hassle he faced Joe saw the funny side and claimed Sam was a “good lad” for 'fessing up.

He said: "I was in hysterics when I realised he was serious. I thought 'what a guy'. I definitely found it funny because it's something I'd do.

"I scrolled down on his Instagram and every single post he had a drink in his hand or he was at some event or on a night out. I'm glad it's served him well.

"He said it's been passed around so much. Apparently it's been used in brothels and all sorts of places, so fair play to them."

Joe said: “I like the fact he’s got back in touch with me and revealed where it’s been all this time. I think it’s hilarious just to think it’s been used by all these different people to have a good time.”

Sam added: "It could have gone either way but I wasn’t really nervous when I sent him the message. It’s just lucky that he took it the right way, he’s a good lad.

"We’ve even said we’re going to try meet up for a pint and go out together."
