Genius husband buys a tarantula to stop arachnophobe mother-in-law from visiting
After constantly overstaying her welcome, the man brought home the spider to get his mother-in-law out of the house
A HUSBAND has bought a pet tarantula to stop his arachnophobe mother-in-law from visiting.
The bloke was sick of his wife's "crazy" mother constantly coming over unannounced and nagging him.
In a post to Reddit, the man said: "I have insufferable in laws. Father-in-law is manageable, but (my) mother-in-law is crazy.
"My wife is Chinese and her parents are really traditional. Privacy means nothing to them, and my wife refuses to set boundaries.
"They will come around every day unannounced to visit my wife/play with our kids. So not only do I never get a break from my mother-in-law's constant nagging, I have no privacy from them."
After constantly overstayed her welcome, the man brought home the eight-legged pet in a bid to get some peace and quiet.
'WORKED LIKE A CHARM'
"Anyway, mother-in-law is arachnophobic. A few months ago she went crazy after a wolf spider was simply in the corner doing nothing. Panic attack and all.
"So I got the idea to get a tarantula as a way to prevent her coming so often. It’s in a big enclosure in the living room. Asked wife before hand if it’s okay, but didn’t tell her the motivation.
"Worked like a charm, the dad still comes but the mother can’t stand to be in the same house as it."
Posting the story in the 'Am I The A**hole' subreddit, he asked fellow users if he was in the wrong.
But many followers were quick to defend his actions.
