One outraged man accused Tinder of "bodyshaming" - with others ranting that women needed to have their weight verified as well.

The fury came despite Tinder's tongue-in-cheek press release claiming the "state of the art" technology verifies height using pictures of men stood next to "any commercial building."

One bloke fumed: "Just wow. @Tinder have introduced a height verification system to body-shame men."

Another wrote: "Tinder is coming out soon with a height verification..... I’m so screwed."

But a third joked: "I don't get matches either way. So, I don't care for height verification".

One outraged Reddit user even called for Tinder to implement a 'weight setting' for woman - bizarrely accusing ladies of 'fat-fishing'.

He ranted: "Tinder just announced a setting for men to show their height, under the reasoning that too many men lie about their height on the app and as they put it, are 'height fishing' women.

"I can just about guarantee they won't do a f****** thing about weight for women.

Tinder user

"I have friends who have been fat-fished. That's essentially the same thing."

"Why the hell should guys show their height if women won't show their weight.

"It's so dumb to me. A girl doesn't like a guy because of his height? 'You go girl!', 'Girl power!', blah blah blah.

"A guy doesn't like a girl because she's fat? 'A**hole!', 'So misogynistic!', blah blah blah.

Tinder

"It annoys the living f*** out of me that women aren't held to the same societal standards regarding attraction that men are."

"I have no issue with a woman if she is fat. I am just not attracted to it. Also, it is totally okay with me if a woman isn't attracted to me because I'm 5'9"."

The Tinder press release said: "Introducing Tinder’s Height Verification Badge (HVB), because yes - sometimes it matters
