How to play Crazy Eights
If you know how to play Uno, you basically know how to play Crazy Eights.
Shuffle a full deck, minus jokers. The dealer deals five cards, face down, to each player.
The rest of the cards form a draw pile in the middle, that’s also face down.

The top card of this pile is revealed and placed next to the draw pile, to form a discard pile.
If this first card is an eight, place it back randomly into the draw pile.
The player to the left of the dealer goes first. They must place one card onto the discard pile.
The card must be the same suit or the same rank as the card underneath it.
For instance, if the first card was a three of hearts, the next card must be either a three or a heart card.

However, those eights are crazy! They can be placed at any time, regardless of what card came before it.
The person who placed the eight gets to call a suit, that will then be the required suit of the next card (unless the next person also has an eight as the eights are crazy and don’t care what came before it).
If you don’t have an appropriate card to play, you must keep drawing cards (up to a maximum of five cards) until you can play.
If you still haven’t drawn a card to play after drawing five cards, the game automatically moves on (your punishment was adding five cards to your hand).

The round ends when someone has placed down all the cards in their hand.
At that point, the scores for the round are added up. If you have any eights in your hand, you get 50 points.
If you have any face cards (king, queen or jack), you get 10 points. If you have any numbered cards, the value of the card is the value of the points you get (e.g. a two of diamonds is two points).
