WWE legend John Cena to star in Fast and Furious 9 alongside Vin Diesel ‘but Dwayne The Rock Johnson will not appear’
WWE legend John Cena has officially joined Vin Diesel in the cast of Fast & Furious 9.
The 42-year-old has forged an impressive career for himself in Hollywood since taking a part-time role in wrestling.
And he confirmed his next big movie project on Twitter.
The Leader of the Cenation wrote: “For nearly 20 years, the Fast Franchise has entertained fans and created some of the biggest cinematic moments in history.
“It’s an incredible honor to join this franchise and this family.”
Cena’s character is being kept underwraps but claim he will be turning heel to play a “badass”.
Longtime ring rival and fellow WWE superstar Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson stars in the soon-to-be released Fast & Furious Presents: Hobbs & Shaw.
But Deadline claim The People's Champion will not be making an appearance alongside Cena.
Vin Diesel hinted that Cena, a joint-record 16-time world champion with Ric Flair, would be part of the blockbuster movie series with a cryptic Instagram video in April.
He said he had been sent a “soldier for the fight for truth” before turning the camera around to show Cena.
The actor, who starred alongside fellow WWE icon Batista in Guardians of the Galaxy, said: “Guys, as you know, I'm always thinking fast and thinking about the responsibility of making something iconic, and deserving of your loyalty.
“I know this sounds crazy, but every blue moon, I feel like Pablo up there sends me someone.
“Another soldier for the fight for truth.

“And today, someone came by the Toretto Gym, that speaks to what Pablo would have brought me. All love, always.”
Cena has not appeared on WWE TV since WrestleMania 35 on April 7.
The grappler turned back the clock, much to the delight of the WWE Universe, by appearing as his Thuganomics persona as he laid waste to Elias after a brilliant rap.
