Wimbledon 2019: Andy Murray and Serena Williams could face brother Jamie in mixed-doubles final as Gauff partners Brit Clarke
ANDY MURRAY and Serena Williams have been handed the chance to book a mixed-doubles final date against his brother Jamie at Wimbledon.
Two-time singles champion Murray has formed a dream-team with Grand Slam legend Williams to compete at the All-England in a shock pairing.
And this morning's draw has seen them slot in the opposite half of brother Jamie, a doubles specialist, and his partner Bethanie Mattek-Sands.
It means the brothers now have the chance to face-off in the final next weekend if they manage to battle their way through the rounds.
The mixed-doubles has rarely been as popular is it is this year, with Murray, 32, teaming up with seven-times Ladies champion Serena.
And there is more interest this year after teen prodigy Cori Gauff decided to enter alongside British hope Jay Clarke.
But the Murray/Williams pairing will not have an easy route to the final, especially as they have never even played together in a match before.
They have been drawn to face Andreas Mies of Germany and Chile's Alexa Guarachi in the opening round, which is due to be played on Friday.
Traditionally mixed-doubles are contested on the outside courts but such is the interest in them, there is every chance they will have to be moved onto one of the show courts.
And if they come through that game, there is a big chance they will face the number one seeds in the third round in the shape of Bruno Soares of Brazil and the American Nicole Melichar.
Brother Jamie, 33, has twice won the Wimbledon mixed-doubles title and will fancy himself to go a long way this year having teamed up with another specialist in the shape of American Mattek-Sands.

And there will be plenty of eyes on the new wildcard pairing of 15-year-old sensation Gauff, and Britain's Clarke.
Gauff claimed the headlines on the opening day when she beat former champion Venus Williams, and is tipped to become the next superstar of the women's game.
Derby-born Clarke, 20, is preparing to face Roger Federer in the second round of the singles.
