The deadline for entries is Wednesday, with the American, 37, up for the challenge.

It now seems a sensational dream partnership is now on the verge of happening.

On the potential team-up, Murray said: “I’m definitely playing in the mixed. I have got my partner – well 90 per cent sure.

“Is it Serena? Possibly. I just need to just confirm it.

“If I hadn’t said anything at Queen’s with Ash (Barty), it was like she was getting pounded with questions about it.

“I want to make sure for sure before I say anything. I don’t want to say anything and it is not true. I will know for sure tomorrow.”

Meanwhile, men’s doubles partner Pierre-Hugues Herbert revealed he is INJURED, meaning Murray could miss out on that particular championship.

The Frenchman, who lost to Kevin Anderson in the singles earlier, cut short his practice on Sunday after feeling a pain in his quad.

At that moment he feared he would not be able to play alongside the Scot, who at this late stage would NOT be allowed to call up a replacement.

A subsequent medical test gave Herbert, who is desperate not to let Murray down, the all-clear but he was still heavily strapped during his 6-3, 6-4, 6-2 loss to the South African.

It’s also been suggest Murray will play on either Centre Court or Court No1 for “safety reasons”.
