BARCELONA star Gerard Pique was spotted with Real Madrid rivals Marco Asensio and Lucas Vazquez to watch Rafa Nadal in action at the Madrid Masters yesterday.

The La Liga trio were seen courtside supporting their compatriot as he lost to Austrian hotshot Dominic Thiem in straight sets - his first defeat on clay in 357 days.

Pique had gone toe-to-toe with Asensio and Vazquez just last Sunday as they played out a feisty 2-2 draw in El Clasico at the Nou Camp.

But they seemed like the best of friends as they laughed alongside each other for the clash.

The Spanish mob would have been expecting another big win for No1 seed Nadal on Friday, having gone unbeaten on clay in just a week shy of one year.

The last time the big-hitting Spaniard lost on the surface was also against world No7 Thiem - at last year's Rome Masters.

And the young Austrian, 24, was too much again for Nadal, 31, as he stormed to a 7-5 6-3 victory to stun the home crowd.

Elsewhere British hope Kyle Edmund - who will now break into the world's top-20 for the first time - lost to Canadian hotshot Denis Shapovalov in a thrilling encounter.

Edmund, 23, lost 7-5 6-7 (8-6) 6-4 at the quarter-final stage, having already beaten Novak Djokovic and world No8 David Goffin to reach the last eight.

Meanwhile, Barcelona and Real Madrid will turn their attention to the end of the La Liga season - with Los Blancos also preparing for the Champions League final.

Madrid host Celta Vigo tonight, while Barca travel to Levante tomorrow.
