French Open 2017: Kyle Edmund books place in third round for the first time after straight set win over Renzo Olivo

Brit will take on Kevin Anderson after his win over tennis bad boy Nick Kyrgios

ROARED on by British fans, Kyle Edmund took revenge for the French.

The British No 2 was very impressive in a 7-5 6-3 6-1 win over Renzo Olivo, the Argentinian who had put out local favourite Jo-Wilfried Tsonga.

Edmund is into the ​third round of the French Open for the first time, where he will play Kevin Anderson after the South African's win over Nick Kyrgios.

Edmund said: “As the match went along, I used the support to my benefit. I could feel me getting on top.

“It's great to have British support. There's always British accents out there you can here, people asking for autographs and selfies later.

“He beat Tsonga and I knew I had to play well today, got it done in straights.

You have to be ruthless, when you see the guy down you've got to finish him.

“You've just got to keep going. You saw that against Tsonga. He's a guy who just keeps going.”

Edmund faltered just once, when serving for the first set at 6-5. But he broke Olivo again straightaway and never looked back.
