The trio are good friends, with the music power-couple enjoying prime seats in Serena's own private box.

It was a fairly straightforward evening for the seven-time champ, Serena easing past fellow American Vania King 6-3 6-3.

King, 27, was oblivious to the music royalty seated in the stands until she was out on court - and it gave her a bit of a shock.

She said: "I looked up and was like, 'Oh s***! Beyonce is watching'".

Serena was more relaxed about her chums being in attendance - and claims it makes her put on more of a show.

Williams said: "Usually when people are there, I try to play better, especially if they're famous and they're doing so great at their job.

"It's like I want to show them that I'm good at my job, too - minus today."

The pair have travelled all over the world supporting Williams in the past - included Wimbledon earlier this year where she won the Ladies singles title.

Serena will now face Swede Johanna Larsson in the third round tomorrow.
