Rio Olympics: Andy Murray to kick off defence of his coveted title with tough clash against Serbia ace Viktor Troicki
Gold medal hopeful's main rival Novak Djokovic faces Juan Martin Del Porto as Jo Konta and Heather Watson discover fate
ANDY MURRAY has been Serbed up a tough draw as he bids to defend his Olympic title.
British No 1 Murray will play Serbia’s Viktor Troicki, now the world No 35 but a very tricky opponent, in the first round of the men’s singles in Rio.
But the Brit’s main rival for gold, world No 1 Novak Djokovic, also faces a tough opening match – against former US Open champion Juan Martin Del Potro.
The big Argentinian is on the comeback trail after losing years to wrist problems. Del Potro beat Stan Wawrinka at Wimbledon and defeated Djokovic himself in the bronze medal match in London four years ago.
Murray’s fellow Brits can have few complaints about their draws.
Kyle Edmund will play Aussie Jordan Thompson in the men’s singles.
