Dominika Cibulkova dreaming of missing her white wedding as it means she’ll be chasing Wimbo glory
Slovakian stunner is due to get hitched to fiance Miso Navara in Bratislava on Saturday - the same day as the women’s final
SHE might be forced to swap her white wedding for the whites of Wimbledon.
But Dominika Cibulkova says it would be a “dream come true” if she is walking out on Centre Court rather than down the aisle this weekend.
The Slovakian stunner is due to get hitched to fiance Miso Navara in Bratislava on Saturday - the same day as the women’s final.
Yet by tying Agnieszka Radwanska in knots, the No19 seed might have to wait to tie the knot herself.
Because she now plans to postpone her big day if she beats unseeded Russian Elena Vesnina in this afternoon’s quarter-final.
Cibulkova, 27, explained: “At the moment we are still keeping this date.
“But if I win my next match we will change it. We will postpone it then because it will be a big rush.
“I only started thinking about it after beating Agnieszka.
“I was in an ice bath after the match and I said to my team, ‘OK, now it’s getting more serious’.
“So I told them that if we win the quarter-final then we seriously have to deal with this.
“But if we have to do it, then it will be like a dream come true, because nothing better could happen to me in my tennis career.
“All my guests know I'm here and playing.
“So it’s no problem to postpone a wedding one week later - and it will be even more enjoyable.”
Cibulkova arranged July 9 for her wedding as she never imagined getting this far at SW19, having only reached the last eight once before five years ago.
But the 2014 Australian Open finalist claimed her first grass court title at Eastbourne in the week before Wimbledon.
And yesterday she was outstanding in knocking out third seed Radwanska 6-3 5-7 9-7 in a three-hour thriller.
Cibulkova said: “We chose this date because I never saw myself as such a great grass court player.
“I wanted the wedding to be in the summer and this was the only OK time to have it.
“But if I knew I would win at Eastbourne and be in the quarter-finals, I probably would have changed my mind!"
Cibulkova dropped to the floor in tears after winning her third match point against former Wimbo runner-up Radwanska - with her fella in the No3 Court stands watching on.
And the bride-to-be added: “I would say it was the toughest match in my career so far, physically and also mentally.
“After I did it, I was really crying. It was so emotional because physically I felt like I couldn’t move anymore.”
