How does the new trial bonus points system work?
- A team winning a game shall be awarded FOUR match points
- If the winning team score four tries or more in the process, FIVE match points
- If a team loses a match, they shall be awarded NO match points
- If a team loses a match by a margin of seven points or less, OR scores four tries, ONE match point
- If a team loses a match by a margin of seven points or less, AND scores four tries, TWO match points
- Teams that draw a match shall each be awarded two match points
- In a draw, any teams who score four or more tries shall be awarded a further match point – so THREE match points
- Grand Slam: A team that wins all five of its matches shall be awarded a further THREE match points
