Richard Hill named as England’s new team manager 13 years after winning the World Cup with Red Rose

Hill, 43, will act as a mentor for players under Eddie Jones

RICHARD HILL has been named as England's new team manager - 13 years after becoming a World Cup winner.

Legendary flanker Hill will act as a Red Rose mentor for the players and coaches as part of a wide remit under boss Eddie Jones.

The 43-year-old will start work on Sunday when England's 45-man squad meet up in Brighton for a mini training camp ahead of the autumn internationals.

Hill said: “It is a great honour to take up this position with the national team.

“These are exciting times for English rugby and I look forward to supporting the team and management in our journey to the World Cup in 2019.”

Jones gave Hill the team manager's role for England Saxons' summer tour to South Africa and the pair know each other from Saracens - where Hill played and Jones coached briefly in 2009.
