Ex-England rugby and Dancing on Ice star Ben Foden retires aged 36 after quitting UK to play in New York
FORMER England rugby star and Dancing on Ice contestant Ben Foden has announced his retirement.
The 36-year-old is drawing the curtain on his 18-year career after "a lot of deliberation".
Foden started his career at Sale Sharks before moving on to the Northampton Saints.
He spent a decade there, helping the Saints win the Premiership in 2014.
The versatile Englishman, who played at scrum-half, fullback and on the wing, won 34 caps for his country - making his debut against Italy in 2009.
also had a spell in New York with Rugby United.

He announced on : "So after lots of deliberation I’ve decided to finally hang up my playing boots from professional rugby.
"From a young ‘Pop Idol’ starting at @salesharks to 10 years at @northamptonsaints to finally finishing my career with @rugbyunitedny it’s been a 18 year career filled with every emotion possible.
"Rugby has given me so much through my life time and given me enough memories to keep me smiling for the rest of my days.
"It’s taken me all over the world and I feel privileged to say it’s given me friendships and a family I can always depend on.

Foden was far from camera shy and participated on X Factor: Celebrity in 2019.
He was a part of a group called Try Star alongside Levi Davis and Thom Evans, but the trio finished fifth.
Foden was also in Dancing on Ice's fourteenth season this year.
But he was the first celeb to be eliminated from the ITV show after all judges voted to save Loose Women star Ria.
