MARK WILLIAMS is in hospital after complaining of chest pains — but he has revealed he is not suffering from a heart problem.
The reigning world champion went to the Northern General Hospital in Sheffield following the opening session of his second-round clash with David Gilbert at the Betfred World Championships.
The Welshman was checked by the on-site doctor and he was advised as a precaution to attend A&E for further check-ups.
World Snooker offered to take him to hospital but he decided to make his own way there with his wife Joanne and his middle son Kian, 12.
Williams tweeted: “A&E. Could be here a while. I couldn’t stick the chest pains no more. Lucky there wasn’t any more frames to play. #bettergetcheckedoutsafethansorrry.”
He later posted: "Doctors are confidant [sic] it's not anything to do with my heart. Awaiting more tests at 10 o clock."
Gilbert leads 5-3 after the first session and the pair are set to play again today from 10am with the match concluding in the evening.
Williams stripped off drew away the towel covering his modesty in front of the cameras and reporters having triumphed a year after he almost quit the sport.
