NBA likely to ban Kayne West’s Yeezy basketball shoes after collaboration with Adidas
League reviews all sneakers before approving their use and it is believed the rapper's effort breaks strict rules
KANYE WEST’S debut Basketball shoes are set to be banned by the NBA, according to reports.
The rapper, 41, linked up with Adidas to create YZY BSKTBL and try and cash in on the huge market for collectable sneakers.
And insists sources have revealed the reflective panel on the heel is likely to fall foul of the league’s strict rules on footwear when reviewed.
NBA chiefs try to avoid items which could be distracting for spectators in the stands and television viewers.
New York Knicks star Carmelo Anthony faced a similar issue with the metallic chrome heel of his Jordan M10s but got round the issue by changing to a pair with a matte finish.
Kanye has been sharing images of his shoes, which he claim took over three years to develop, on Instagram.
And the dazzling panel on the back clearly stands out in the posts when hit by light.
It is not all bad news for the mogul as Michael Jordan’s debut black and red Nike Air Jordan 1s were banned in 1985.
The media hype surrounding the decision was then used by Nike to help create the multi-billion-pound collectable sneaker industry.
Kanye’s efforts are expected to be released during the 2018-19 season but release dates and pricing have not yet been released.
