Wright could be auditioning for a role on Strictly Come Dancing but he probably wont get the call anytime soon

DANCING DAD Peter Wright thinks Ally Pally is morphing into Strictly Come Darting!

The Snakebite is more renowned these days for his walk-on entrances more than his finishes.

Whenever he arrives on stage, Wright does the popular bouncing-arm routine, all set to the tune of ‘Don’t Stop the Party’ by the American rapper Pitbull.

Several other players have followed his lead and started dancing before play commences, including James Wade, South African Devon Petersen, jiving Jerry Hendriks from Holland and body-popping Belgian Dimitri van den Bergh.

Wright, 46, laughed: “Strictly Come Darting — that is what we should call the darts now.

“OK, so I am a little a fat man dancing across the stage. But it is all part of the show.

“The crowd want the fantastic darts players, they want Michael van Gerwen playing at a fast pace.

“And they also want the entertainment. My entrance gets the crowd going, and sets up the atmosphere. My dream song would be the Time Warp. But sadly I won't be any good at it.

“I couldn’t go on Strictly Come Dancing, though. I am useless when it comes to real dancing.”

Wright reckons his dancing craze is sweeping the pubs, clubs and living rooms across the country.

And he regularly receives videos on social media of fans copying his moves at home.

Wright said: “I first started doing the dancing in a tournament in Germany.

“I started to jump across the stage for some reason and the whole place went mental. They loved it. Now everyone does it.

“I get families sending me videos on Facebook or Twitter of their two or five-year-olds doing the jumping. So many little ’uns watch me on TV and then try to copy the routine, jumping out of the room and coming back in again.

“Fellow darts players do it, too. Stephen Bunting’s son Toby loves the dance. Adrian Lewis' lad absolutely loves it — even

though he won’t admit that.

“I know I am doing a good job when I am getting kids involved in darts, regardless of their age,

“Darts leads itself to a bit of showbiz and entertainment.”
