Rio Olympics 2016 medal table: Team GB record breakers hit 66 to go one better than London 2012 haul
TEAM GB have gone one better than their medal haul at London 2012 after winning 66 medals at the Rio Olympic Games.
The Brits equalled the tally from the magical games of four years ago with Mo Farah's stunning gold in the 5,000 metres.
Then Christine Ohuruogu and the 4x400m relay girls sealed the magic 66 target as the team made history with bronze.
Joe Joyce is also guaranteed at least a silver medal as he goes for gold in the super-heavyweight boxing final.
Britain are now the first nation to win more medals at a summer Games following an Olympiad that they have hosted four years earlier.
Team GB are also still ON target to beat China in the medal standings, in a stunning state of affairs as the Chinese flopped badly in Brazil. They have more medals than Britain overall with 69 but have won 25 golds.

UK Sport chief Liz Nicholl said: "It has been outstanding.
"We knew we had potentially 79 medal shots and our target was at least 48 - a best ever 'away' Games - but really we were aiming for 66, one more than London.
"It shows that the system is working here in the UK and yet those of us involved know that there's a huge amount more that can be improved, more potential to come, so as we look ahead to Tokyo, it's looking really exciting."
