The Maracana Stadium will play host to the spectacular ending of the games, which gives the thousands of athletes who have thrilled us the opportunity to say farewell and celebrate the hundreds of memories they created.
Rio de Janeiro carnival designer Rosa Magalhaes is the man tasked with serving up the event as creative director of the ceremony.
He will no doubt inject some samba style as he looks to top the brilliant opening of the games a fortnight ago.
