Rio Olympics 2016: Jack Laugher is all smiles after silver in the men’s 3m springboard

Diver adds to another night of glory for Team GB

JACK LAUGHER was all smiles as he added a superb springboard silver to his synchronised gold on another glorious night for Team GB at the Rio Olympics.

The Yorkshireman, 21, was a comfortable second on 523.5 points, behind China's dominant gold winner Cao Yuan (547.60) and ahead of Germany's bronze winner Patrick Hausding (498.90).

Laugher last year became the first Brit to win two dive medals in the same World Championships.

And he topped that in Brazil with an evening of outstanding consistency that soon left him enthusing on Twitter.

He said: "Second place at the Olympic Games!! Can't believe it!!! Baby we did it!"

Girlfriend Jessica Auty, 21, a make-up artist, will be delighted after admitting last week that his life is "going to change completely now".

Ireland's Oliver Dingley was an impressive eighth after finishing strongly.

And Laugher can reflect on an Olympics performance where he matched the best hopes of most experts.

He won 3m synchro gold with Chris Mears, the same gong Tom Daley and Dan Goodfellow picked up in the 10m synchro.
