Rio Olympics 2016: Egypt v Germany beach volleyball clash shows colossal cultural divide between two teams
BEACH VOLLEYBALL has given the world a glimpse into the cultural differences between the West and Islam.
Egypt took on Germany at the Rio Olympics in the sport that is famous for it's female players wearing bikinis.
But the pictures show that not all women are following the stereotype as the Egyptian team wore long sleeved tops and leggings while competing.
Doaa Elghobashy also covered her head with a hijab - team-mate Nada Meawad did not - as their German rivals Laura Ludwig and Kira Walkenhorst wore two-piece outfits.
Before London 2012 the International Volleyball Federation regulated the size of uniforms before relaxing those rules.
Medal hopefuls Ludwig and Walkenhorst continued their outstanding winning streak by posting a Pool D win over their Egyptian counterparts.

Ludwig and Walkenhorst came out 2-0 winners after a match lasting nearly 40 minutes.
After the defeat, 19-year-old Elghobashy told reporters: "I have worn the hijab for 10 years.
"It doesn’t keep me away from the things I love to do, and beach volleyball is one of them.
"I’m proud to be seen raising the Egyptian flag in a carnival with so many nations."
