Vet rescue

Sebastian Vettel swaps his 200mph Ferrari for a three-tonne ambulance with top speed of 88mph in epic job-swap race

Four-time world champion took on paramedic driving hero Alex Knapton in unique time trial challenge

SEBASTIAN VETTEL swaps a 200mph Ferrari for a three-tonne ambulance with a top speed of 88mph in this epic job-swap challenge.

The four-time world champion took on unsung driving hero and paramedic Alex Knapton to find out once and for all who really is the better driver.

German superstar Vettel boasts a 42-race win record, while unheralded Knapton of South Central ambulance boasts 1,356 emergency calls.

But they were almost equals behind the wheel - with Vettel even using the flashing sirens as he picked up speed.

Vettel crossed the line in two minutes and 17 seconds in the 118horsepower rescue vehicle.

And that hammered by seven seconds what Knapton could manage in a Ferrari 488 GTB equipped with a 3.9litre turbocharged V-8 engine and 670hp.

The German currently lies fifth in this year's championship ahead of his home Grand Prix this weekend.

But it is leader Lewis Hamilton who is aiming to spoil the homecoming of Mercedes team-mate and closest rival Nico Rosberg.

The reigning world champion wants to extend his six-point lead further.

He said: "I'm still in the mentality of chasing. I want to go into the summer break with what lead I have now at least."
