Nico Rosberg romps home in Baku GP ahead of Lewis Hamilton who failed to turn around 10th-placed start to finish fifth

Hamilton was fastest man across the weekend but a crash in qualifying in Azerbaijan robbed him of a fighting chance

NICO ROSBERG won his first Grand Prix in Baku and the maximum 25 points after Lewis Hamilton failed to fightback from his qualifying nightmare.

Hamilton started the Azerbaijan race in 10th after a crash in qualifying and he failed to recover the huge deficit despite being the fastest car on the track of the the weekend.

Rosberg collected his 19th Grand Prix win with Seb Vettel in second and Sergio Perez taking third to complete the podium.

Triumphant Rosberg had not own since Sochi but he extended his championship advantage with the perfect race after starting on pole and leading every lap.

Hamilton had problems with his energy recovery system and will have to recover quickly to get his title charge back on track.
