Floyd Mayweather ‘begging’ Khabib for boxing match because he is ‘running out of money’
FLOYD MAYWEATHER is “begging” to box UFC champion Khabib Nurmagomedov, the Russian’s manager claimed.
The American, 42, retired from the ring two-years ago after stopping ex-UFC king Conor McGregor in 11 rounds on the Irishman’s boxing debut.
While the American has been out of action, McGregor returned to the cage at UFC 229 in October, losing to the 30-year-old via fourth round submission.
Keen to earn another big pay-day against a UFC star, Nurmagomedov’s manager Ali Abdelaziz told Mayweather is “running out of money” and wants to face the Russian MMA ace.
Abdelaziz said: "Floyd Mayweather to this day keeps begging to fight Khabib, begging!
“Floyd’s running out of money.
“I'm telling you, people reaching out to me every week about Floyd to fight Khabib but at the end of the day, we're not interested, for now.”
Mayweather made £7million on New Year’s Eve when he took out Japanese kickboxer Tenshin Nasukawa in one round.
The 50-0 boxer teased more exhibition bouts in Tokyo to come in the future.
Nurmagomedov, meanwhile, faces interim lightweight champion Dustin Poirier on September 7 in Abu Dhabi.
With UFC No1 ranked lightweight challenger Tony Ferguson, and MMA legend Georges St-Pierre lined up for the Russian after his Middle East bout - Mayweather could be kept waiting further for his Nurmagomedov boxing match.
“At the end of the day we’re fighting Dustin Poirier, he’s a true No1 contender.
