Amir Khan claims boxing fight with UFC star Conor McGregor ‘makes great business’
Bolton man takes on WBO welterweight king Terence Crawford on Saturday night - but understands the money behind the potential crossover bout
AMIR KHAN is open to a boxing match against UFC star Conor McGregor suggesting the move “makes great business”.
Khan, 32, attempts to shock the world tomorrow night when he challenges WBO welterweight champion and pound-for-pound star Terence Crawford in New York.
A win for the Bolton man would catapult his name into the mix of elite contenders, however, the lure of a money-grab crossover bout with McGregor, 30, would also be of interest.
McGregor made his professional boxing debut in 2017 losing against ring legend Floyd Mayweather - a man Khan tirelessly chased for a fight himself throughout his career.
Speaking to , Saturday night’s 10/1 underdog insisted he would not “turn away” from becoming the second man to box MMA fighter McGregor.
Khan said: “I mean it’s business, isn’t it?
“We’re at a level now where it makes great business like Floyd Mayweather. We all learned from Floyd Mayweather – how he makes fights happen.
“Conor McGregor vs Amir Khan would be a massive fight. It’d be huge, you’ve got Irish vs English so that’ll be massive.
“If that happens, I’m not one to turn away from that.”
While Khan braces himself for the switch-hitting maestro Crawford, 31, McGregor looks to end his turmoil time on the sidelines.

Having not fought since UFC 229 in October losing to Khabib Nurmagomedov - only to see himself pick up a suspension for a post-fight brawl after that loss.
The Irish star has since seen himself arrested, retire and continue an ugly feud with Nurmagomedov, 30, through social media spats.
McGregor, however, has since told his fans online “see you in the octagon” while UFC president Dana White confirmed the pair are set for talks to map out terms for a comeback.
