Dana White has called McGregor and Khabib's war of words 'unacceptable'

White has now claimed he will step in and speak to both McGregor and Khabib separately over their spat.

White said: "I am aware of the recent social media exchange between Khabib Nurmagomedov and Conor McGregor.

“The ongoing situation has escalated to a level that is unacceptable.

“As such, we are taking the necessary steps to reach out to both athlete camps and this situation is being addressed by all parties internally.”

WHAT WAS SAID?

Just hours before White's warning, McGregor incredibly revealed he was set to return to the Octagon.

The Irishman, 30, retired from the UFC nine days ago but has called out his Russian rival for what would be a mouthwatering rematch.

They fought at UFC 229 in October last year with Khabib winning the bout before chaotic scenes afterwards.

Their row escalated yesterday as McGregor was accused of racism for comparing Khabib's wife to a "towel".

He posted a picture of the fighter's partner covering her face with a veil on her wedding day, a tradition in Muslim culture, before swiftly deleting the tweet.

Khabib mocked his rival as a "jealous wife" destined to return to the sport.

The UFC lightweight champion, 30, beat Notorious in their controversial Las Vegas fight in October - prompting a mass brawl at the T-Mobile Arena.
