Conor McGregor is ‘jealous wife who will come back’, mocks Khabib as he casts doubt over UFC star’s retirement

The Russian champion is seemingly sceptical of McGregor's announcement, saying he won't be able to stay away

KHABIB NURMAGOMEDOV has mocked Conor McGregor's retirement from MMA - calling him a "jealous wife" destined to return to the sport.

The UFC lightweight champion, 30, beat Notorious in their controversial Las Vegas fight in October.

Last week, McGregor, also 30, revealed he was retiring from the sport in an announcement on Twitter.

He revealed: “Hey guys quick announcement, I’ve decided to retire from the sport formally known as “Mixed Martial Art” today.

“I wish all my old colleagues well going forward in competition. I now join my former partners on this venture, already in retirement.

"Proper pina coladas on me fellas!”

"JEALOUS WIFE"

But Khabib is sceptical, saying McGregor - who pranked the world with his rose wine April Fools' joke -  won't be able to stay away from the sport.

The Russian claimed: "Conor acts like a jealous wife, who says 'I will leave' all the time but then comes back."

Khabib himself revealed he is hoping for a September return to UFC following his victory over McGregor - who recently called out Hollywood actor Mark Wahlberg.

He was suspended after the the mass brawl that ensued following his T-Mobile Arena win over Notorious.

Now, Khabib has said: "I want to come back in September, but Zubaira Tukhugov is still banned, and I won't fight ahead of him.

"I jumped out of the cage. He shouldn't suffer because of my actions.”

This is not the first time Khabib has trolled McGregor since his retirement though, also taking aim by saying: "There can be only one king in the jungle."

The Russian also called his Irish rival a "Twitter warrior" in a separate dig.
