UFC 205: Relive the moment Eddie Alvarez called out Conor McGregor after UFC Fight Night Las Vegas

Newly-crowned UFC lightweight champion Eddie Alvarez wasted no time in calling out the Irish superstar after defeating Rafael dos Anjos at UFC Fight Night in July.

EDDIE Alvarez called for it, and now he's all set to get his wish on November 12 when he takes on in the main event of UFC 205 at Madison Square Garden.

Alvarez captured the UFC lightweight title when he took on and defeated Rafael dos Anjos at UFC Fight Night in Las Vegas back in July.

And in the post-fight press conference the newly-crowned champion took the opportunity to call on the UFC to book him in a champion versus champion bout with McGregor.

"These are the best guys in the division," he said of his past opponents.

"I'm not (just) taking on Top 15 (fighters) so I would ask Dana White, please, to give me an easier fight like Conor McGregor.

"I deserve that. I've been fighting the best guys, so I would like a gimme fight.

"There's a lot of guys in the UFC who are good at one thing and they get matched up stylistically well.

"They make their way to the top without ever going against the best guys, the true best guys like Rafael dos Anjos and the best guys in the division.

"They sneak their way around them and they live off perception, not what really is.

"He's one of 'em, so I think he can get found out.

"If he was ever to fight Rafael dos Anjos or fight myself he'd get found out very quickly."

Now Alvarez has his matchup, the pressure will be on as he seeks to back up his words and assert his dominance at the top of the UFC's toughest weight class.
