McGregor has not fought since a submission defeat to bitter rival Khabib Nurmagoemdov in October 2018, but admitted he was “disrespectful” and “lacked commitment” before the fight.

The 31-year-old has vowed to learn from the mistakes he made in preparation ahead of that defeat, and looked to be putting the pieces together in his latest training clip.

McGregor is seen on the pads with striking coach Owen Roddy.

But he is also joined by two-time Irish Olympic boxer Phil Sutcliffe Sr from Crumlin Amateur Boxing Club, The Notorious’ first ever gym, which he returned to in the lead up to his return bout.

McGregor is plotting a rematch against lightweight king Nurmagoemdov, but his comeback fight will be at welterweight.

UFC boss Dana White revealed the Dublin southpaw has been allowed to beef up and return at 170lbs so that he does not have to go through a gruelling weight cut to lightweight.

The muscle gain has divided opinions, with the question on whether McGregor will use the extra weight to gain power or fatigue quicker.

But the former two-division champion seemed to be carrying the power in his shots as he smashed the pads.

He worked out in custom made orange Grant boxing gloves that were specially made for McGregor before he boxed Floyd Mayweather in 2017.

The 31-year-old is captured whipping in body shots and stinging left hands while also adopting a hands up defence style in close, a technique likely taught by his boxing coach.
